Yesterday at Holy Cross High School the day started out with the
top 20 players from the clas
s of 2014. The red team beat the
white team
75-63. Someone who definitely stood out to me was
Ahmad Alston 5'4 point guard (sorry, didn't get a chance to ge
t
all of his info down. 1 person, 1 pen, 1 pad. I'm a rookie, LoL!)
was playing against Je
rron Love, Jerron is a big name in the city,
everyone knows him as a great point guard and crafty ball
handler with great court vision and a high basketball IQ. Nobody
really knew
Ahmad Alston in the stands but they did after the
game. Ahmad played very well against
Jerron, it wasn't his
offense that
had my eyes wide open, it was his defense. Ahmad
played very good full court defense on
Jerron the whole game.
Jerron held his own and showed everyone that he was a legit PG
on
the floor not trying to make the game a 1 on 1 match of the
year by setting his team mates up and running his squad, with
strong
guidance of his father (Mr. Love) Jerron showed me
and everyone else that he is for real and not your typical
showboat NY PG. Ahmad Alston is name EVERYONE SHOULD
REMEMBER, the kid got a good skill set and plays with heart.

Just 10 Documentary: Feat: Jerron Love
Jerron Love has been focused for a while now. At age 10 he set
out to become the top point guard in the Big Apple. If you know the
history of NYC point guards then you understand that this is not an
easy feat. Love was willing to put the work in and showed the
dedication. I must say right now he looking like he’s on the right
road. Basketball Spotlight would like to share this experience with you
as we bring you the “Just 10” Documentary Featuring Jerron Love. This 3
Part Series will take you into the world of this youngster as you see
him train and hear from the people closes to him.

NJ Adidas Phenom Camp Recap: Day 1 Class 2014

Hey, some point guards are born with certain instincts and this kid seems to be one. Just watching him control the tempo you can see his natural feel for the position and how he keeps his squad flowing. Love had a tremendous showing today on both ends of the floor. He baked defenders with his handle, dropped some flawless dimes and drained some deep treys like rain. On defense he applied pressure the full 94 feet. He had the crowd going crazy!

NJ Adidas Phenom Camp Recap: Day 2 Class 2014

I know he gets a lot of ink but I only write what I see and from what I saw Mr. Love left no doubt as being the top 7th Grade point guard in this region. I’ve seen him on several occasions against all sorts of competition and he still gets it done. His moves are crisp and precise while his decision making is light years ahead an average 7th Grader. He was the talk of the camp.

Gym Rat Midnight Madness: Middle School Elite Game Preview

The showman from the Boogie Down is taylor made for this atmosphere. His ball handling, slick passing and scoring ability will keep the crowd very interested. Look for Jerron to make a strong run MVP honors.

Basketball Spotlight Elite 80 Recap: Day 2 Pool 1

The young PG got his game together today and cooked numerous defenders even dropping one after a crossover. The youngster enjoys passing the ball and looks to drive draw and dish when getting into the lane.

Video Highlight Updates: Jerron Love (Welcome To NYC)

Jerron Love is one of the top ball handlers in the region. This fall and winter he made appearences at several events in the Basketball Spotlight Elite 80 Expo. The Class of 2014 is deep in the point guard position but this kid is one of the best. Some people might feel that he gets too much hype but hey that's the world we are living in and he faces the pressure head on.

Inside AC Showcase: 13 and Under

Jerron Love traveled to the Atlantic City Showcase with Team Underrated. This guard is one of the most point men in the region. Team Underrated could use his services and with Chris Davis this would be a very exciting backcourt. We will keep you posted as TU has confirmed their spot at the MDC.

HGH Spring Showdown ll Day 1 Recap: Top PG's

Love arrived a little late but once he entered the game his impact is felt immediately. Jerron’s court vision is very rare for a player on this level and his teammates seem to enjoy running on the break with him. The youngster is really showing his ability to run a team and is also proving that passing the ball up the floor helps the squad more than dribbling it. Most guards at this stage haven’t realized that yet.

Five Star Showcase Recap: Class 2015-2014

It was another showcase and Mr. Love did his thing. Sometimes I am amazed at how he can get his shot off over such bigger defenders. But, Jerron does have the ability to keep a defender off balance with his dribble moves and wicked crossover. When his outside shot is dropping his confidence starts to rise and he gets into attack mode.

Basketball Spotlight 13U Award Winners

This kid gets busy in these types of events. He did work at the Elite 80 Expo, NJ Adidas Jr. Phenom, and Five Star Showcase among other events. I didn’t travel to California for the Adidas Phenom Camp but I find it hard to believe that he didn’t finish ranked in the Top 40. It had to be more to the story.

Basketball Spotlight Video Profile: Jerron Love

When you are playing in New York there’s a lot of pressure for you to succeed especially when you’re a point guard. But Love was one of our first features on this site and he continues to look the pressure in the face. The talented floor general took his play on the road this spring and summer and put in work. He made numerous stops with New Heights on the circuit and made some personal appearances at elite camps. Love’s game has a lot of flash and substance. Check out his work on one of his videos.

Basketball Spotlight Summer Report: Class 2014

The next showmen from New York made his mark at the Jr. All American Camp. He got rid of defenders with quick crossover and hesitation dribbles. He does have some flash to his game but his substance is also high. Love is a name you will hear about for years to come.

Love made his presence felt in the game with some swift drives, on point passes and a deep pull up jumper. Yeah he gets a lot of attention from his play by hey that’s the New York way. He represented well down in Virginia.

Love showed his just not a regional name. He brought his same game to Virginia. He dazzled the crowd with his quick burst of speed and on time passes. He also like the way he uses vocal direction for his team.

I got a chance to see Jerron Love last week at Lex’s 8th grade showcase at the Brooklyn Rec Center and came away impressed. Got an e-mail from his Dad today saying that he was going to make the 3:00 pm Middle School Game at JFK on 230th Street in the Bronx. For you backpackers, take the 1 train to 231st and hit 230th and go down 3 blocks. Kennedy HS is on the left.

Featured on Streetball.com and in Spain’s Crossover Magazine, could Jerron be the next “Skip?” Come through Saturday at JFK in the Bronx and check it out

There also is 5'3 7th Grader Jerron Love from Bronx, NY, who already is a street ball legend in New York City and has a flair for spectacular and a knack for penetrating and dishing and get his shot off against taller defenders.  Are you starting to get the idea that this class is really good?  Well, stay tuned, because the players in the Class of 2015 are still five years away from being able to sign a binding National Letter-of-Intent and a lot of things are sure to happen in the meantime.

Jerron Love, a quick and athletic guard who plays very intense. He has crafty Chris Paul-like guard skills. Jerron is able to get into the lane and find the open man. He also has the ability to step out and knock down the long range shot.

Written By: Jeremy Bauman Gotham Hoops Scouting  Jerron Love - 7th grade; Riverdale Country Middle School: The Youtube sensation had it all on display today. The 5'2? fiery guard plays with passion and has an excellent feel for the game; as he showed with two crowd-pleasing behind the back assists in the 3rd quarter. Love is an extremely crafty ball-handler who keeps the ball on a string. Love shot the ball very well (4 treys). This kid loves the spotlight and has an advanced game for his age. He has a great feel for the game and has an even greater future in sight and finished the game with 14 points, 3 rebounds, and 9 assists.

Steve Goldstein - Sidiki Johnson and Thaddeus Hall of New Heights each won mvp honors at two very competitive Orchard Beach Hoops in the Sun all star games. The rising 9th grader, Thaddeus Hall, a 6'3 shooting guard, led his team to victory. Thaddeus also came in second in the three point shooting contest. Playing with Thaddeus was his aau teammate rising 9th grader Tafari Whittingham. At 6'6 and athletic and physical, Tafari also contested for mvp honors. Tafari blocked shots, scored easily and ended the game with a thunderous dunk.   Sidiki Johnson, a rising sophmore, had 36 points in leading his team to victory in the second game. Sidiki also won the dunk contest and lost in the finals of the three point contest. Sidiki who can play both the guard and small forward positions at 6' 7, is long and athletic and only 15 years old.  Sidiki, Thaddeus and Tafari clearly have bright futures. Finally, worth noting was the play of Jerron Love. Jerron, a rising 7th grader dazzled the crowd, in the jr. all star game. Playing against kids two grades ahead and some a foot and a half taller, Jerron another New Heights kid, more than held his own. Look out for Jerron as well.

Steve Goldstein
- As a witness to the Harlem Kings three team sweep at the New York ShockTournament, the Kings are clearly a program on the rise. Is there a better 9th grader in New York than Sidiki Johnson? Johnson at close to 6'7 showed his complete game of dunks and hitting threes. Teammate Jevaun Dawson has to be one of the best jump shooting and slashing guards in the class of 2011. The 8th grade team, playing without one of the city's top guards, injured guard Dennis Green, also showed their depth by beating New Jersey's Playaz. The Kings 7th grade team, with lots of height and depth beat a tough Gauchos team. Finally, the Kings 8th grade team includes 6th grader Jerron Love.  Jerron, less than 5 feet, already makes great point guard decisions and is a name to remember.
